Sea birds circle over the water against a moody sky. This painting was meant to be a simple exercise in background techniques. Once the sky and water were finished, it kept pulling me back, asking me to do more. When I had finished it, I realized that it had become a metaphor for the state my life was in, having sold my house and not really having any plans on where to go. Sea, sky, flight, all the metaphors for freedom, forward motion and endless possibilities.
